Later tract homes and mid-century stock, including post-and-beam houses with a lot of glass. We install in Cupertino from our San Jose showroom.

Cupertino

Tract homes next to design-driven mid-century houses

Cupertino is known worldwide as the home of Apple Park, but for homeowners it is mostly quiet residential neighborhoods: Monta Vista, Garden Gate, Rancho Rinconada and others built over several decades. Alongside the standard tract homes are mid-century and Eichler-style houses where the glass is a defining feature, and a window replacement needs to respect that.

Housing stock and what it means for windows

Cupertino combines later tract housing with mid-century homes, including Eichler-style post-and-beam houses in areas such as Fairgrove. Eichler openings, with large glass walls and slim sightlines, fight a thick replacement frame, and the house is not designed to hide one. Where the house is an Eichler, the package has to respect the opening language and not just the U-factor.

Exposure and orientation

Eichler roofs and shallow overhangs leave more glass open to sun and weather. Later tract homes with deeper eaves are more forgiving, but west and southwest walls still drive Low-E choice. Orientation and overhang decide sill and glass together.

South Bay winter weather arrives from the south-southwest. That only decides a sill when the opening has little overhang.

Local notes

Things worth knowing before you order

Post-and-beam openings

Glass walls in these houses sit within a structural grid. Replacement units need to fit that module and keep sightlines slim.

Flat and shallow-slope roofs

Low roofs and shallow overhangs expose more glass to sun and weather. Glass type and detailing both matter.

Meeting energy code

Replacement windows are subject to Title 24 rules in California. We select glass that meets them and explain how the performance numbers relate to your house.

Matching original character

If you want the look to stay faithful to a mid-century design, we will tell you honestly how close a given series can get.

About Cupertino

Cupertino was incorporated in 1955 and grew quickly from orchard country into a suburban city. De Anza College and Apple Park are its best-known institutions, while its neighborhoods have a steady, family-oriented feel.

Many Cupertino houses are now at the age where original windows are overdue, which makes replacement a regular conversation rather than a luxury one.

Do you have a showroom in Cupertino?

No. The showroom is at 180 Lewis Rd in San Jose. We measure and install at your Cupertino home and specify products from the showroom.

I have an Eichler-style house. Can you replace the glass walls?

We can. These openings need careful measurement and series selection to keep slim sightlines. We will explain what will change visibly before you order.

Do new windows have to meet energy code?

In California, replacement windows are subject to Title 24 energy requirements. We spec compliant glass packages and explain what applies. Our Title 24 page has more detail.

How is pricing different here?

Cupertino quotes follow opening type, whether tract or mid-century, and the series that fits. The showroom and crew are the same as in San Jose; the product path is what changes the number.
